CHANTAL COMTE - Rhum hors d'âge - La Tour de l'Or 2001 - 64,8%
From a family that settled in the Caribbean since 1964, Chantal Comte is a rum-passionate to which she was initiated by two great specialists: André Depaz and Paul Hayot. Owner of the estate of Château de la Tuilerie in Nîmes, where she was also the winemaker, she now devotes herself completely to her job of selecting exceptional rums. It is André Depaz, owner of the Plantation of the Mount Pelée, who pushes her to create a job that did not exist then in rum but is common in the world of whisky: whisky blender and bottler.
Chantal Comte symbolically named this cuvée "La Tour de l'Or" to recall that, it is in Seville that the treasures of the New World, brought by the Caravels of Christopher Columbus, landed.
"La Tour de l'Or" 2001 comes from the L box in the cellars of La Mauny Distillery and was matured in American oak barrels that previously contained Bourbon. Aging in barrels began on 19/11/2001 then the rum was aged for 14 years before being rested for 18 months in stainless steel tanks. The 1,715 bottles were bottled in April 2017.
