POUILLY FUME SILEX DAGUENEAU DIDIER 2017
Didier Dagueneau comes from a family of winemakers but did not start his career in the world of wine, opting instead for motorcycle racing. Only, after a succession of accidents, he retired and returned to the Loire to make wine under his own label. He created the Domaine Didier Dagueneau in 1982 in the commune of Saint-Andelain, in the Pouilly-Fuméappellation. Dagueneau's approach has revitalized the image of Pouilly-Fumé, but also more generally of the Sauvignon Blanc itself.
In 1993, he was one of the first producers to convert his vineyard to biodynamic practices: plowing the soil with horses, reducing yields... In 2000, he bought plots in Sancerre in the Mont Damnés, before to expand to Jurançon in 2002. Sadly, Didier Dagueneau died in 2008 in a plane crash and his children, Louis-Benjamin and Charlotte took over the operation.
Dagueneau’s Silex is a must for Loire wines. This Pouilly-Fumé made from Sauvignon Blanc, according to the rules of the appellation, is an exceptional wine. It is undoubtedly the most sought-after and demanded cuvée of the Estate. Minerality, power and salinity testify to the remarkable terroir.
Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
