Château Barouillet - Pécharmant 2018
Château Barouillet is located in Pomport, in the Dordogne. It has been a family estate for 8 generations, managed today by grandfather Yves Alexis, father Gérard Alexis and son Vincent Alexis. The 45-hectare vineyard is spread over 5 islets: 20 hectares in Montbazillac, 9 hectares in Bergerac red, 5 hectares in Pécharmant, 1 hectare in off-dry Côtes de Bergerac and 9 hectares for dry white vinification. Much work has been done on organic farming, until the entire estate is certified or in conversion in 2014. This organic approach is accompanied by biodynamic treatments.
The Pécharmant is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown on a deep white clay terroir with sands and rolled pebbles. Each grape variety is vinified separately. The maceration is soft and lasts 20 to 30 days. The 12-month aging is carried out in old barrels and in stainless steel vats, then the final blend is carried out with an additional aging of one year in the bottle.
