KARUKERA - Millésime 1999 - 45%
Karukera is a rum factory located in Sainte-Marie, Guadeloupe, on the estate of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie. In 2005, François Longueteau bought from his father the agricultural estate of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie and the Espérance Distillery located in the heart of the Estate with the desire to maintain the family heritage. The production of the distillery then focused on white rum and dark rum, bottled under two brands that have made the family famous: Mon Repos and Longueteau rums. Grégoire Hayot, an engineer by training, was then financial director at the Damoiseau distillery, where he participated in the modernisation of the production tool and in the construction in 2005 of a new aging cellar. He wants to develop the production of old agricultural rum in Guadeloupe. Grégoire then looked for a distillery whose main criterion was the mastery and freshness of its supply of sugar cane. Naturally, he got along with François Longueteau who became his partner, and together created the company Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. On November 2, 2006, Karukera made its first aging using the Longueteau distillate with 87 310-litres barrels supplied by Seguin Moreau. In 2007, Karukera had his cellar built, which included an aging area, a workshop for refining white rum, a packaging workshop, storage areas, a laboratory as well as a tourist reception area and a shop.
This agricultural rum was distilled in 1999 and aged exclusively in small barrels that once contained Bourbon. It is bottled at the natural degree of the barrel, without addition or blending.
