L'Homme Cheval

L'Homme Cheval is a range of wines created by Dominique Léandre-Chevalier in Anglade, in the Bordeaux region. The property dates from 1895, his ancestors were already winegrowers but also carters and nurserymen. The etymology of his name "Léandre-Chevalier" means "The Man-Horse" (L’Homme-Cheval). In 1985, he took over the estate after the death of his father at the age of 55, who died in the middle of the harvest, poisoned by carbon dioxide in a tank. Quickly, he decides to return to a work of artisanal winegrower, uses the strict ploughing of the horse and reduces his vineyard from 12 to 3 hectares. Despite his haute couture work (vertical barrel system, planting a Petit Verdot vine in a circle with the old provignage method, density of vines triple to those of Bordeaux grands crus ...), in 2018 he experienced cash problems and Dominique no longer has control over his vines, his land, his fruit, his cellar, his cellar, his stock and his family home. Temporarily, however, since a great Swiss admirer of his wines allowed him to resume the adventure and unveil this new range of L’Homme-Cheval in 2021. The wines of Dom. Léandre Chevalier are made using traditional methods and the principles of organic farming, without certification.
