The famous Caroni Distillery was founded in 1918 in the state of Trinidad & Tobago. This state distillery then had its own sugar refinery to ensure its supply of raw material, high quality sugar cane produced on site. Strongly equipped with different types of stills (column and pot stills), this legendary distillery has long remained secret and mystical. Indeed, few of their rums have been bottled under their own label. Their eaux-de-vies present a very singular aromatic profile with fragrances of hydrocarbons, sweet spices and honey. However, the government decided to close the distillery in 2002 following a crisis in the sugar industry. As a result, their rarity has greatly increased, taking these rums with such an atypical character into a mythical dimension.

This edition has been selected by Luca Gargano. It comes from a stock of 11 casks that produced 3.083 bottles. The rum was distilled in 1996, aged for 20 years and bottled in 2016. It was aged in tropical climate and the angel’s share was over 85%. Due to its high alcohol content, it is recommended to add a drop of fresh water during tasting.
