Domaine Michel Juillot - Mercurey Rouge - Les Vignes de Maillonge 2018
Domaine Michel Juillot is located in Mercurey, in the Côte Chalonnaise in Burgundy. The estate was founded in 1928 and still belongs today to the Juillot family. Laurent Juillot, fourth generation winemaker at the family estate, operates 31 hectares across the Côte Chalonnaise and the Côte de Beaune. The domain integrates a great respect for the environment, with an objective of quality. It has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE) since 2019.
The Mercurey Les Vignes de Maillonge is made from Pinot Noir grown on clay-limestone soils, beige marl and hard pebbles on the surface. The vines are exposed to the east and south-east. The harvest is manual and the fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is aged for 16 months in oak barrels, 15% of which are new.
