This prestigious edition was distilled in 1989 at the Uitvlugt Distillery, located in Guyana, using the iconic Port Morant still. Patiently aged for 31 years in a single cask, this rare rum is limited to only 219 numbered bottles, thus guaranteeing rarity and impeccable quality.
Uitvlugt is a charming village in Guyana, ideally situated on the west bank of the Demerara River, with Dutch origins reflected in its name. The Uitvlugt distillery, founded around 1750, was owned by Dutch proprietors. It housed iconic double wooden pot stills, prized for producing rums rich in esters with intense and complex aromas. After the government began privatizing sugar plantations and distilleries in 1975, the Uitvlugt distillery unfortunately closed its doors in 2000. To this day, the Diamond Distillery, the last operating distillery in Guyana, has preserved the famous Uitvlugt stills, thus perpetuating the unique expertise and tradition of this region, globally recognized for its exceptional rums.
