Domaine Oratoire Saint Martin - Reserve of the Lords 2020
Domaine de l'Oratoire Saint Martin is located in Cairanne, in the Rhône Valley. Winegrowers from father to son for 300 years, ten generations have followed one another on the same vineyard since André Alary in 1692. Frédéric and François Alary took over the business in 1984 and operate 25 hectares on the hillsides of Saint Martin including the oratory, built in the middle of the vines, gave the name to the domain. Most of the estate is located in the northeast of the town of Cairanne, 200 meters above sea level on steep hills in an area commonly called "the mountain", in the Les Douyes and Saint Martin districts. The vines are worked without pesticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides, the soil is mechanically worked entirely on the old vines to bury the organic compost (sheep manure) and promote the development of roots in depth. All this work has been carried out for decades in order to promote the microbial life of the soil and respect the typicality of the terroir. The estate is certified organic and biodynamic.
The Cairanne Rouge Réserve des Seigneurs is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre , grown on clay-limestone soil and whose vines are around 50 years old. The harvest is manual, with sorting of the grapes, destemming and vinification by punching down for 12 days. The wine is aged for 9 months in vats .
