Domaine Jean Claude Rateau - Beaune 1er Cru Les Bressandes 2017
Domaine Jean-Claude Rateau is located in Beaune, in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy . Jean-Claude Rateau comes from a wine-growing family. His paternal grandfather, a wine merchant, had planted his own vines and produced red and white Côte de Beaune. His maternal grandfather, head gardener for the city of Beaune, produced a Beaune Village that would keep for a very long time. His father, among his many businesses, cultivated and vinified for another owner family. It is therefore naturally that Jean-Claude Rateau decides to study at the wine school and that he sets out to discover France to share the experience of other winegrowers. In 1979, he established his 2 hectare estate from the family vines. He was one of the precursors of biodynamics in Burgundy. With his partners (the Thoening and Baechtold families), he planted 15 plots on 12 different terroirs.
Beaune Premier Cru Les Bressandes is made from Pinot Noir . The maceration lasts 21 days, with two daily manual pigeages for the extraction. After fermentation, the wine is pressed and barreled in old oak barrels , on fine lees, for 18 months .
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
