ARRAN - The Amarone Cask Finish - 50%

The Arran Malt is a Single Malt distillery located on the Isle of Arran , on the west coast of Scotland . It produces a variety of whiskeys with a range of different expressions and finishes. The distillery was built in 1995 on the northern part of the island at Lochranza and near Loch na Davie , Arran's water source. The grist (the ground grain to which boiling water is added to form the mash) was originally purchased, but a mill has now been installed. Arran Malt is known for its fresh, tangy character, which may stem from the slowness at which the stills distill.

Arran's Amarone finish is aged in second-use Amarone barrels. Amarone is a dry or semi-dry Italian red made from partially dried Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes offering notes of dates and figs with a lovely rosy hue .
