Diplomático is a brand of aged rum from Venezuela , produced by Destilerías Unidas. The Diplomático distillery is located at the foot of the Andes, a privileged place for the production of rum; the region enjoys excellent conditions for the growth of sugar cane and for the production of rum, with fertile land, abundant water and a tropical climate. The distillery, founded in 1959, is unique because it houses three different distillation processes that are combined to produce Diplomático rum. The company has also been a pioneer in implementing sustainable practices throughout the rum-making process. From sugar cane, two products are obtained: sugar cane honey for complex rums, and molasses for light rums.
Single Vintage editions are only produced in exceptional vintages.
Resulting from a meticulous selection and assembly of rums aged for 12 years in barrels of Bourbon, Single Malt whiskey and new American oak, this Diplomatico 2007 benefited from a refining of 12 additional months in barrels of Sherry First Fill Oloroso
At the tasting, the Diplomatico Single Vintage 2007 rum offers a unique aromatic profile. A nice balance between full-bodied flavors of roasting aromas and freshly fruity flavors.
