Nonino Grappa - Il Merlot - 41%
Nonino is located in the region of Friuli, Italy . The distillery was founded by Orazio Nonino in 1897. Antonio Nonino, third generation of the family of distillers, thanks to ancient knowledge preserved for generations, launched the production of Nonino liqueurs in 1933. Silvia Nonino, Antonio's wife left a widow becomes the first woman to run a distillery. In 1973, his descendants Benito and Giannola created the first single-varietal Grappa according to the Cru concept. From 1989, the Noninos planted 40 hectares of vineyards with local grape varieties such as Picolit, Ribolla Gialla, Fragolino or Schioppettino to produce their Grappa. To produce their Grappa, the Nonino family personally takes care of the purchase of the primary product and follows the different distillation phases to guarantee the maximum quality of the distillate. Carefully selected and de-stemmed pomace is sent to the distillery immediately after vinification. The pomace is then placed in stainless steel tanks for the fermentation process and distilled in a copper pot still.
This Grappa is made from marc of the Merlot grape variety.
