KARUKERA - Old Rum Cream - 18%
Karukera is a rum distillery located in Sainte-Marie , Guadeloupe , on the domain of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie . In 2005, François Longueteau bought the agricultural estate of the Marquisat de Sainte-Marie and the Espérance distillery located in the heart of the estate from his father with the desire to maintain the family heritage. The distillery's production then focused on white rum and amber rum, bottled under two brands that made the family famous: Mon Repos and Longueteau rums. Grégoire Hayot , an engineer by training, was then financial director at the Damoiseau distillery, where he participated in the modernization of the production tool and the construction in 2005 of a new aging cellar. He wishes to develop the activity of production of old agricultural rum in Guadeloupe. Grégoire then looked for a distillery whose main criterion was the control and freshness of its supply of sugar cane. Naturally, he agreed with François Longueteau who became his partner, and together created the company Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. On November 2, 2006, Karukera carried out its first aging from the Longueteau distillate with 87 barrels of 310 liters supplied by Seguin Moreau. In 2007, Karukera built its cellar, which includes an aging area, a workshop for refining white rum, a packaging workshop, storage areas, a laboratory as well as a tourist reception area and a shop. .
