Cihuatan is an iconic premium rum brand originating from El Salvador, an underrated gem in Central America. Founded in 2004 by a collective of entrepreneurs passionate about rum tradition and the rich Salvadoran heritage, this distillery embodies excellence and authenticity. The name Cihuatan pays tribute to an ancient Mayan city located in the west of El Salvador, once a major religious and cultural center for the Mayas. Each Cihuatan rum is carefully crafted from pure molasses and crystalline spring water sourced from the preserved Chalatenango region. Distillation takes place in traditional copper stills, ensuring finesse and purity. Aging occurs in American oak barrels that previously held Bourbon, imparting each bottle with rich and complex aromas. Furthermore, the brand is actively engaged in sustainable development initiatives aimed at protecting the local environment and supporting the nearby community, thereby strengthening its responsible and ethical positioning.

The name "Cinabrio" draws its inspiration from the bright red hue of cinnabar, a precious mineral used by the ancient Mayas as a sacred pigment. This color embodied Kinich Ahau, the Mayan sun god, symbol of light and power. The Cinabrio rum is an exceptional product, aged for 12 years in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels, thus developing an intense and balanced aromatic palette, ideal for connoisseurs seeking a unique sensory experience.
