The El Jolgorio brand of Mezcal is produced by Casa Cortés , in Oaxaca, Mexico . The Cortés family has been producing Mezcal since 1840 and has helped improve the manufacturing process. Today represented by the fifth generation, the family is present in all stages, from planting to distillation. The company is committed to preserving traditional production methods and the culture of local communities in the region. It works closely with local producers to produce mezcal in a sustainable way, using environmentally friendly methods and contributing to local economic development.
This Mezcal is made from maguey Tepeztate , of the Marmorata agave variety. It is particularly difficult to grow and harvest due to its slow growth and large size. The plant can take up to 25 years to reach maturity, and it can weigh up to 200 kilograms. The harvest took place in 2018, and 700 bottles were produced for this 24th edition.
