Zero Nine Spirits (Zn09) is an independent bottling company, founded in 2022 by two friends, Grégory and Alain . The two spirits enthusiasts are from Ariège and after years of experience in this field, they in turn decided to share their ideas of blending, aging and refining.
This bottling was made to celebrate the first year of opening of Clos des Spiritueux . This Long Pond is a traditional Jamaican rum, distilled in 2006 . It has benefited from aging in American oak barrels having contained Bourbon for 14 years in a tropical climate , followed by refining for 3 years in a continental climate . It was bottled in September 2023, only 288 bottles were produced.

Many years ago, I met Alain and Grégory in the world of spirits, and through our meetings and tastings, a friendship was forged. To celebrate the first anniversary of the Clos des Spiritueux boutique, we received a preview of a magnificent gift in the form of this 17-year-old barrel of Long Pond. The quality-price ratio is exceptional, especially in 2023, to obtain such nectar of such quality for less than €100!
In the glass, we are greeted by a superb golden amber color which invites tasting. At first nose, the esters evoke the Jamaican elegance that I appreciate so much. It's just right, neither too discreet nor too intense. The balance of aromas is perfect, with a superb glaze, notes of gasoline, olives, brine and overripe bananas.
On the palate, salty, tangy notes of olive and licorice envelop the palate. Exotic fruits blend harmoniously with hydrocarbon notes. A true perfection among molasses rums, especially at this price.
