Château Barouillet - Pécharmant 2021
Château Barouillet is located in Pomport, in the Dordogne . It has been a family estate for 8 generations, managed today by grandfather Yves Alexis , father Gérard Alexis and son Vincent Alexis . The 45 hectare vineyard is spread over 5 islands: 20 hectares in Montbazillac , 9 hectares in red Bergerac , 5 hectares in Pécharmant , 1 hectare in soft Côtes de Bergerac and 9 hectares for dry white vinification. The estate is certified in biodynamics .
Pécharmant is a blend of Merlot (40%), Malbec (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) grown on a terroir of red flint clay. Each grape variety is vinified separately. Maceration is gentle and lasts 20 to 30 days. The 12-month aging is carried out in old barrels (50%) and in stainless steel vats (50%) then the final assembly is left to rest in concrete vats.
