Swell de Spirits is an independent, family-run bottler based in Pessac, France. The company was established in 2021 by Michael Barbaria and Kelly . They publish a variety of limited editions, bottles of rum but also of whiskey, armagnac, cognac, calvados... from distilleries around the world. Always with a fairly remarkable quality of selection!
Private Garden n°13 is our 4th vintage in the Private Garden series by Swell de Spirits which we inaugurated 2 years ago in 2022 with the little sister of this vintage! This vintage therefore comes from a twin barrel (distilled at the same time) of the TDL 2000 released for the inauguration of the Clos des Spiritueux.
Here is a 24 year old rum from the TDL distillery in Trinidad. The rum was distilled in 2000, aged for 15 years in Trinidad and 9 years in the United Kingdom then bottled in January 2024 with only 210 bottles produced. It comes from a single cask and bottled at its natural strength of 55.8%.

Tasting comment from Fabien: For this new vintage, we were rewarded with the discovery of a twin barrel of our first TDL 2000, which will delight fans of this bottle or those who were unable to acquire it at the time . When Michael presented me with a mystery sample one day (his smile said it all), but I never would have imagined that it would be a new TDL 2000. From the first scent, the emotion took me grasped ! This familiar essence, but sublimated (in my eyes). After oxygenating for a few minutes in the glass, this beverage reveals itself to be a festival of aromas: red fruits, notably blackcurrant, roasted touches of cocoa and toasted hazelnuts, as well as a delicate freshness emanating from white mint. . The balance is always perfect and can be more than in the first. The alcohol blends harmoniously, and the length in the mouth... each sip is a renewed pleasure, an experience in its own right.
