Fournier Father and Son - Ménétou-Salon Rouge - Côtes de Morogues 2022
Domaine Fournier Père et Fils is located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation. It was founded in 1926 by Hélène and Léon Fournier. Originally, the mixed farming operation consisted of 0.2 hectares of vines. In 1946, Léon's son-in-law, Paul, took over the operation; he expanded the vineyard to 1.5 hectares and raised goats to produce Crottin de Chavignol. The estate specialized in vine growing in 1972. After several changes of ownership within the same family, the de Villebois family took over management of the property in 2015. Today, the vineyard is made up of a myriad of small plots on the three terroirs of the Sancerre appellation, as well as in Ménétou-Salon, Pouilly-Fumé and the Loire Valley.
The red Ménétou-Salon “Côtes de Morogues” is made from Pinot Noir planted on steep hills with varied exposures. After harvesting, the grapes are put into cold pre-fermentation maceration. The vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled vats.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
