TEQUILA - OCHO - Vintage 2024 - Reposado - Tierras Negras - 40%
Tequila Ocho is made in Mexico . The brand was founded in 2008 by Carlos Camarena (a 5th-generation farmer and 3rd-generation Tequilero) and Tomas Estes, the man responsible for bringing tequila culture to Europe. Each bottle of Tequila Ocho showcases a unique terroir and is made from the Weber blue agave plant.
Each lot comes from a different field, or "Rancho," with its own regional characteristics. Located in the community of "La Parada" (the stopping place) in the municipality of San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, this historic site was a 17th-century horse-changing station for travelers moving between haciendas. Although it was used exclusively for cattle grazing, this is the first time agave was planted and harvested in this field. This mostly flat terrain has a slight slope toward the east and is composed of stones, cactus, huizache, and other desert shrubs. The clayey, gray color of the soil gives this field its name, "Tierras Negras ." The Reposado is aged for 8 weeks and 8 days in American oak barrels that previously held whiskey.
