Terroir:Our Coteaux du Lyonnais come from the south of the appellation, not far from the banks of the Rhône. In the town of Millery, the soils are made of glacial moraines (large pebbles), in the village of Orlénas de gneiss (rocks close to granites). The exposure is Southeast. These vines are relatively flat, the valley at this point being not very steep. The soils formed by sands and large pebbles are hot and allow good maturation of Chardonnay, a white grape of this appellation.
Area:0.7 ha
Grape variety:Chardonnay
Age of vines:20 years on average
Work in the vines:These vines are cultivated as naturally as possible. The density is more than six thousand vines per hectare. In winter, the soils remain naturally grassy. The vines are trellised high enough and pruned in Guyot. The soils are worked in spring and summer. There is no chemical fertilizer, but composted manure. The treatments are few, without insecticides or synthetic chemicals. Vinification: The harvest is done by hand. A careful sorting is carried out in the vineyard by the pickers. Arrived at the cellar, the grapes are pressed and then settled in the cold. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, always with indigenous yeasts. The malo-lactics are done afterwards.
Aging:6 months, in stainless steel vats. Fining and light filtration before bottling.
Annual production:around 2,500 bottles / year
Aging and peak:They can be drunk as soon as they are bottled, in order to fully benefit from their youthful aromas.
Tasting:a lively and fresh wine, with aromas of citrus fruits, flowers
Food and wine pairing:with shellfish, crustaceans, fish, goat cheese or as an aperitif
