Initially, Domaine Savanna, located in Saint-Paul at the foot of the mountains, became a candy in the early nineteenth century. The Savanna distillery was born a little later, fruit of the will of Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950. This former student of the Central School of Arts and Manufactures of Paris has been an international figure of the sugar industry. From 1982, a contract allows the Savanna distillery to raise the quality of its production in upscale rums, recognized quality that will have to be the first European distillery to be certified ISO 9002.
This 57% white rum from Savanna is therefore a "High Ester Rum Reunion" which means that it is a rum with a high content of aromatic compounds. After a particularly long fermentation of up to 11 days the vesou was distilled in a still pot still. It is also recognized as a form of borrowing from the typicality of Jamaican rums, known for the concentration of esters linked to this form of distillation, and the avant-garde touch of Savanna with such a thorough fermentation.
