Domaine Philippe Alliet - Chinon - L'Huisserie 2016
This vintage is the latest from the estate, with 2004 for the first vintage. The frame is made on gravelly soils, with relatively young vines ... Planted on a hill, they benefit from a very beautiful exposure: full south!
The aging is carried out over 18 months in oak barrels, with only 10% new wood.
With such a flattering vintage for the Loire Cabernet Francs, the nose intoxicates with its aromas of red and black berries promising flavor, over a delicious frame of sweet spices. On the palate, superb fullness on the fruit, carried by a beautiful minerality and noble and refined tannins. The finish lingers on freshness for a racy and gourmet juice of complexity.
The discreet Claude and Philippe Alliet stood out by creating a new style in Chinon in the 1990s. Their cuvées Vieilles Vignes (gravel), L'Huisserie (top of the hill and flint clay trays) and especially Coteau de Noiré (steep clay-limestone slope facing south), have seduced lovers of Cabernet Franc with their dark color and incredible density. But no recipe has been established with this fine taster and outstanding winemaker, supported by his son, Pierre, since 2005, who helps him shape ever deeper and more elegant wines. From 2010, Bordeaux barrels disappeared in favor of 500-liter barrels and the proportion of new wood greatly decreased. The 2016s reach a very high level of concentration and refinement; they are among the greatest wines of the region.
