Bernard and Jean Marie Raveneau run the legendary Raveneau estate, founded by their father François Raveneau. They cultivate nearly 8 hectares including threeChablis GrandsCrusand six Chablis 1er Cru.
Yields are carefully limited and the harvest is carried out only by hand. The wines are matured for 18 months in barrels and sheets of 132 liters. Only part of the Butteaux and Montée de Tonnerre premier crus go through new wood.
The triptych of fruit maturity, minerality and mastery of aging are the key points of the success of the great white Burgundy winesfrom the Raveneau estate. However, you have to know how to wait for certain vintages at least 10 years to appreciate them at their true value. In particular, the Chablis grands crus Blanchot, Les Clos and Valmur. The Vaillons, Montée de Tonnerre, Montmains, Forêt and Butteaux premier crus also largely deserve the success they have met internationally.
