EDRADOUR- 22 ans - Millésime 1984 - 48.2%
Edradour is a Highland distillery located in the village of Moulin, near Pitlochry. It is the smallest traditional Scottish whisky distillery and the last small farmer from the Victorian era still in production. It is also known for her connection with the New York Mafia. Edradour was founded in 1825 under the name of Glenforres Distillery by a cooperative of local farmers. In 1938, Irving Haim, an agent of New York Mafia boss Frank Costello, became the major shareholder. Upon Haim's death in 1976, the company was sold to an Australian-American consortium of companies, then to a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard in 1982. Since 2002, the distillery has been owned by Signatory Vintage Ltd. The distillery retains many traditional features and antique pieces of equipment. For example, the vat wort is cooled by the latest Morton commercial refrigerator, using only cold water. No process is computer controlled.
This 22-year-old Edradour expression was distilled on May 23rd, 1984 and bottled on August 24th, 2016. It was aged in oak cask, then finished in Pedro Ximenez barrels. 669 bottles have been produced.
