Château Barouillet - Hécate 2018
Château Barouillet is located in Pomport, in the Dordogne. It has been a family estate for 8 generations, managed today by grandfather Yves Alexis, father Gérard Alexis and son Vincent Alexis. The 45-hectare vineyard is spread over 5 islets: 20 hectares in Montbazillac, 9 hectares in Bergerac red, 5 hectares in Pécharmant, 1 hectare in off-dry Côtes de Bergerac and 9 hectares for dry white vinification. Much work has been done on organic farming, until the entire estate is certified or in conversion in 2014. This organic approach is accompanied by biodynamic treatments.
The Hécate cuvée is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from plot selection on the terroir of deep white clay and Pécharmant flint. The infusion maceration is gentle and lasts 3 to 4 weeks. Aging lasts 12 months in 600-litres barrels of 2 to 3 wines, then 4 months in stainless steel vats.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
