This Single Malt Whisky is from the Hanyu Distillery in the river side town of Hanyu on the Tone River. The distillery was surrounded by barley and paddy fields and was making malt whisky following the Scottish way. It stopped distilling in 2000. The potstills and other equipment for whisky were dismantled in 2004 because the ownership changed hands, however the stocks and facilities were saved by the founder’s grandson. He rebuilt the distillery and started production in 2008, the name of the distillery is called Chichibu.

This expression from Hanyu Distillery was distilled in 2000 and aged in American oak Hogshead Single Cask (#957). It was bottled in 2014 and selected specially for La Maison du Whisky.

This bottle is covered with a protective film for optimal conservation
