Compass Box - Canvas - Limited Edition 2021 - 46%
Compass Box Whisky is a Scottish whisky production company, founded by the American John Glaser in 2000. After working in the wine business, then for the famous distiller Johnnie Walker, John Glaser took the plunge and started his own whisky-making business, in his kitchen. A decade later, the company succeeded in establishing stocks of matured whiskies in Scotland, with a blending room and an office in London. Compass Box Whisky sources its cooperage oak in the French Vosges forest and in the woods of Missouri, United States. The company carefully selects each barrel for its blends. Once blended, the whisky is returned to the cask to develop additional flavour and character for six months to three years.
The company sparked controversy in 2015 due to too much information being disclosed on their labels, especially details of distilleries, types of casks, ages and proportions in the final blends. John Glaser has therefore launched a Scottish Whisky Transparency Campaign with the aim of giving producers the opportunity to fully disclose the composition of a blend.
