LONGUETEAU - Parcel n°4 - Cannes Bleues - Edition 2023 - 55%
The Longueteau family arrived in Guadeloupe in 1766, but it was not until the end of the 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie , put up for auction following the crisis of the sugar industry. In 1895, he bought the Habitation Espérance to develop the estate from the status of a sugar refinery to that of a distillery. Today, François Longueteau takes care of the House, the only distillery in Guadeloupe whose owner is both the farmer and the master distiller.
Its rums are entirely from its own sugar cane. They are harvested and crushed the same day at full maturity. Following a 48-hour fermentation without inputs, the juices are distilled in a Savalle column with 28 trays.
The estate is made up of 12 plots of 2 varieties of sugar cane, Canne Rouge (R-579) and Canne Bleue (B69-566). Each parcel of the estate is cultivated and selected in order to convey the expression of an exceptional terroir, the perfect combination of soil, environment and family know-how. The Longueteau Sélection Parcellaire Canne Bleue No.4 comes from a parcel of the estate near the ocean, which gives it more intense saline notes than on the rest of the estate. The harvest took place on April 5, 2021 and was distilled two days later. The rum was bottled in November 2022.
