Whisky MICHEL COUVREUR - ALBA Chapter II - Millésime 2002 - 18 ans - Finish Malaga - 45,5%
The independent bottler Michel Couvreur was originally a producer and trader of Burgundy wine. He turned to the world of whisky in 1978 and distilled for the first time in Edradour in 1986. At the time, he wanted to buy a distillery in Scotland but his wife was against it and they then decided to settle in Bouze-Lès-Beaune, halfway between Scotland and Andalusia, and to intervene in the maturation of whiskies; mainly in Sherry and Port barrels. The range is very varied and meticulous work of blending, selecting new barrels, unusual techniques is undertaken daily. Since his death in 2013, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra continue the work of Michel Couvreur.
This edition of Alba was distilled in Ireland on the 21st of February 2002. It was matured in Malaga butt in Michel Couvreur’s Burgundian caves and bottled on the 30th of June 2021 at cask strength.
