Italicus is produced in a small family-owned distillery dating back to 1906 in Moncalieri, near Turin in Italy. Inspired by the origins of the Turin Rosolio, a historic aperitif from the 1800s made from different herbs, fruits and spices, Giuseppe Gallo created Italicus to bring Italian culture back to the forefront of the international stage. Rosolio was in the 19th century a popular drink in all regions of Italy, each of which had its own distinction and mode of production.
Bergamot fruit comes from a UNESCO protected area in Calabria and citron comes from Sicily. These unique ingredients are infused in cold water to bring out the quintessence of their essential oils in a unique process called "Sfumatura" before being blended with neutral Italian grain alcohol.
