DOMAINE DE TREVALLON - White 2020
Domaine Trévallon is located in the town of Saint-Etienne-du-Grès, on the northern slope of the Alpilles in Provence . The property extends over 17 hectares, made up of vines, scrubland, holm oaks, olive and almond trees. In 1950, Jacqueline and René Dürrbach bought the Mas Chabert and in 1960, the adjoining property: Trévallon. Eloi Dürrbach planted the first vines in 1973, and managed the vineyard with Floriane for more than thirty years, until his death in November 2021. The iconic bottle labels are the work of René Dürrbach, Eloi's father , painter and sculptor and friends of many painters, including Pablo Picasso. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2007.
The 2020 Blanc de Trévallon is a blend of Marsanne (69%), Roussanne (20%), Chardonnay (5%), Grenache Blanc (3%) and Clairette (3%) . The vinification and aging of each grape variety are carried out separately. The aging lasts 12 months in barrels and demi-muids . The white tastes well the first year after bottling. It will then be necessary to wait between 7 and 10 years depending on the vintage in order to be able to appreciate its complexity. The 2020 vintage began with a rainy spring which continued with a hot and dry summer, with cool nights.
