CITADELLE - Long live the Pickle - 43.80%
Gin Citadelle is a French gin produced at Château de Bonbonnet by Maison Ferrand . In 1989, Alexandre Gabriel founded the company with the philosophy of preserving ancient production methods that capture the true expression of the spirit, and committing to reinventing the classics while promoting innovation. In 1996, Alexandre created Citadelle gin, the precursor of French gin, launching a real movement for gins in France. Due to the strict regulations imposed by the AOC Cognac (his first spirit), Alexandre Gabriel is forced to stop using his stills for seven months of the year. After five long years of negotiations, he obtains the authorization to distil gin during the usual period of rest of the traditional Charentais copper stills, giving them a new life.
The juniper berries are harvested directly at the château out of the 2,500 junipers present. When a new member joins the Citadel team, they must plant their own juniper. It then grows right in front of the castle, with its name. The progressive infusion process allows each aromatic in the gin to be infused slowly: orange peel, cubeb pepper, violet, lemon peel.
Citadelle “Les Eccentrics” explores the creative possibilities of artisanal gin in small limited editions. Each season, master blender Alexandre Gabriel and his team give free rein to their curiosity by experimenting with unexpected ingredients. For this edition, pickles are integrated into the aromatic base of the original Citadelle. They come from Maison Marc , a family home located in Burgundy where they are grown without insecticides, herbicides or preservatives.
