Antica Fratta - Essence - Saten Brut 2018
Antica Fratta is located in Monticelli Brusati, in Lombardy , Italy . In the second half of the 19th century, Luigi Rossetti , a wealthy local merchant, transformed a farmhouse into a residence and winery, for which he built the cellars, obtained by digging into the rock of the sloping hill behind the villa. With four gallery aisles arranged in a Greek cross, it could hold 6,000 hectoliters of wine, an enormous quantity for the time. In 1979, Franco Ziliani (owner of Guido Berlucchi) bought the property and founded Antica Fratta, with the intention of becoming "the essence of Franciacorta". Franciacorta was the first Italian traditional method sparkling wine to obtain a DOCG in 1995.
Satèn Brut is made from Chardonnay , harvested between mid-August and early September 2018 on a clay-limestone terroir. The second fermentation in the bottle lasts 30 months . At the end of this period, the bottles are placed on desks, turned daily by 1/8 turn and gradually tilted to bring the sediment with the yeasts to the neck of the bottle in 3 to 4 weeks for disgorging. The wine has a Brut dosage of 5.4 g/L .
