Domaine CASTERA - Jurançon Sec 2021
The Domaine Castéra is located in Monein, between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic in the Jurançon . The Lihour family acquired the property in 1885. After Pierrette and Christian , it was Franck Lihour , who, on the strength of his past experiences around the world, settled in turn at the estate in 2014. Peasant winegrowers from father to son, they cultivate 12 hectares of vines perched on hillsides at an altitude of 300 m. The "Domaine" cuvées are traditional and created by Christian while the "Parcellaires" cuvées are produced by Franck. The vineyard has been certified organic since the 2021 vintage.
Jurançon Sec 2021 is a blend of Gros Manseng, Petit Courbu, Camaralet and Petit Manseng , planted on clay-siliceous, clay-limestone and ferric grep soils. The vines face south-west and east. The grapes are harvested manually and fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts. Vinification and aging are carried out on lees , in vats and in different wooden containers.
