Sullivans Cove Distillery was established in 1994 at its original location in the former Sullivans Cove Brickworks, making it Tasmania 's second oldest whiskey distillery. In 2004 the distillery moved to its present location in Cambridge and current Head Distiller Patrick Maguire took over distillation and cask selection. In its early days, Sullivans Cove's reputation was mediocre to say the least, but in 1999 the new owner significantly improved the quality of the whiskey and in 2007 Sullivans Cove began to gain international recognition: in 2014, the French Oak cask HH0525 was named the World's Best Single Malt Whiskey by the World Whiskeys Awards. The distillery was bought in 2016 by a company headed by Adam Sable, the former manager of the Scottish Bladnoch distillery, located in the Lowlands region.
This expression of Sullivans Cove was distilled in 2008 , and intoned in a cask that contained Australian Tawny (type of Port). This Single Cask ( #TD0318) is aged for 13 years and has produced 422 bottles .
