Perrin family - Gigondas - La Gille 2020
The Perrin family has been established in the Rhône Valley since the beginning of the 20th century. In 1909, Pierre Tramier acquired the Château de Beaucastel in Châteuneuf-du-Pape. Subsequently, his son-in-law, Pierre Perrin, followed by his son Jacques, developed Beaucastel and the vineyards they owned. Today, the 5th generation operates the wine properties: Château de Beaucastel, Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins, Domaine du Clos des Tourelles, Famille Perrin, La Vieille Ferme as well as Miraval in Provence. From 1950, they innovated by working in organic farming , then in 1974, they converted the Château de Beaucastel vineyard to biodynamics.
The Famille Perrin range allows you to discover all the terroirs and the richness of the Southern Rhône Valley. With the same know-how and the same passion as for the Château de Beaucastel, the Perrin Family strives to reveal the essence of each terroir, its authenticity, its specificity while mastering the biological and biodynamic approach, the art of the assembly and the freshness of the aromas of the South.
Gigondas La Gille is a blend of Grenache (60%) and Syrah (40%) , grown on limestone soils, calcareous marl, clay and safres. After the manual harvest, the grapes are sorted, crushed and put into vats. The maceration stage is long, it rounds off and refines the tannins. The extraction is done by manual pigeages. After malolactic fermentation and blending, the wines are aged in wooden casks and vats for 12 months .
