Château de Sours - Cuvée Quarry 2020
Château de Sours is located in Saint-Quentin-de-Baron, in Entre-Deux-Mers of the Bordeaux wine region. The property dating from 1792 was acquired in 2015 by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma . The estate is managed by Sébastien Jacquey , trained in Burgundy, follower of a very winemaking approach. The Château de Sours land extends over 200 hectares, of which 60 hectares are planted with vines. The vineyard is in conversion to organic farming , and a plot division has been established to promote precision agro-ecological viticulture to allow the production of identity wines.
The Quarry vintage pays homage to the limestone plateau of the property. Quarry 2020 is a blend of Merlot (66%), Petit Verdot (32.5%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5%) . Each plot is vinified separately and vatted by gravity. The extraction is gentle to preserve the identity of the fruit and the climate. The aging containers (barrels, tuns and amphoras) and their duration vary depending on the plot and the vintage.
