Limonio - Limoncello from Sicily - 35%
Limonio is located in Partinico, near Palermo in Sicily . The history of this family business begins with great-grandfather Francesco Russo and his sale of fresh citrus fruits. It specializes in harvesting citrus flowers and extracting essential oils used by the cosmetics industry for the manufacture of perfumes, but also in confectionery and pharmacy. An oil of extraordinary purity, the production of which required tons of fruit but, once extracted, could serve as a basis for an infinite number of preparations. Limonio, forced to diversify after World War II while focusing on selling fresh citrus fruits, remained true to its own agricultural identity. In the 1990s, the Russo family became a pioneer of production which quickly spread across the island, making Sicily a reference for the production of a very popular drink: Limoncello. Today, their range has expanded: they produce olive oil and many liqueurs.
Limoncello is obtained from the zest of the Sicilian Femminello lemon variety and the alcohol obtained from the distillation of Sicilian wine grapes, water and sugar.
