Domaine Fumey Chatelain - Yellow Wine 2016
Domaine Fumey Chatelain is located in Montigny-lès-Arsures, in the Jura . It was created by Raphaël Fumey and Adeline Chatelain in 1986. At the time, they started an activity of production and sale of grapes with 56 acres of vines. In the spring of 1991, due to a terrible episode of frost, they had so few grapes left that they decided to vinify it themselves and then signed their first vintage. They developed the business by borrowing cellars and unused barrels from other winegrowers before establishing themselves in a ruined farmhouse. Today, the estate has 17 hectares of vines and their son, Marin , after having made wine several times in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, joins them. The estate is currently under sustainable cultivation but intends to begin a conversion to organic farming in the coming years.
The Vin Jaune 2016 is made from Savagnin from the places called Aux Barbi, Savagny and La Vasée, whose terroir is made up of blue marl. The grapes are pressed directly and fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts. Aging lasts 6 years under veil , in pieces of 228 liters.
Grape variety: 100% Savagnin
