Château Tour des Gendres - The Glory of My Father 2021
Château Tour des Gendres is located in the Bergerac region, in the South-West of France. Vincenzo de Conti, his wife and children settled in the South-West in 1925. In 1956, Primo de Conti, his son, took over the family farm with Michelle, his wife (who also raised a few horses) and his brother Albert. At the beginning of the 1980s, Luc recovered a few hectares of old vines and also planted new plots, assisted by his wife Martine, who also took care of reception at the estate. Francis, his cousin, joined the farm in 1990: his 20 hectares of vines in Saint Julien d'Eymet were added to the Gendres and Grand Caillou vineyards and he took charge of growing the vines. Since 2005, the 52 hectares of the property have been managed in organic farming with certification.
La Gloire de mon Père is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Malbec (35%) and Merlot (30%) . The harvest is destemmed and maceration for 30 days. Fermentation takes place in vats with punching down and micro-oxygenation under marc. Aging lasts 12 months in 500 liter barrels and tuns , followed by 6 months in vats .
