RUM of JAMAICA - HABITATION VELIER - Hampden 2011 - 7 years - LFCH - 60,5%
Habitation Velier is a project born from the will of Luca Gargano, probably the greatest rum specialist in this world. Luca Gargano comes from a large Italian family, known for the quality of his goods, a family of explorers who aims a qualitative rather than lucrative distribution. For each distilleries, the aim is to highlight the best distillers from their Pure Single rums, each time with an original project signed by Habitation Velier to produce a world first for each unique signature distillery.
The origins of the Hampden distillery Hampden date back to 1684 then owned by a certain Thomas Goddard. Since 2009, this distillery has been purchased by the Hussey family (Everglades Farms Ltd.) in the state. Today, with nearly 5600ha of sugar cane, the rums of Hampden Rhum Company are among the most authentic in Jamaica. The rums are still distilled in the style of heavy pot rum (heavy rums), the aromatic palette rich in esters (aromatic particles) according to ancestral processes. The fermentations are made by native yeasts in spontaneous fermentation in a rich cellar of historical pieces still used for a production faithful to the tradition.
With this Hampden 2011 LFCH aged 7 years, Habitation Velier proposes to rediscover the distillery in a lighter style. Well known for its ability to produce "heavy rum" loaded with esters, this is the opposite of their ability to work lightly and finely with esters grading between 85 and 120g / hl. This pure single rum expresses complex aromas with herbaceous characteristics, sugarcane, dried twigs and exotic fruits.
