Planted in 1130 by Cistercian monks, the Coulée de Serrant vineyard is a monopoly in Savennières owned by the Joly family.

Emblematic figure of the Loire Valley and Savennières vineyards, 7 hectares have been farmed biodynamically since 1984 by Nicolas Joly, a great figure in French biodynamics, now followed by his daughter Virginie. The vines planted with Chenin have an average age of 35 to 80 years. Located on particularly steep slopes, with very shallow soil, the vineyard, which dominates the Loire in South / South-East exposure, is cultivated partly by hand and on horseback.

3 cuvées are produced today: "La coulée de Serrant", "Les Vieux Clos" and "Clos de la Bergerie".
An insider's wine by definition, the estate's wines never leave you indifferent. Harvested very ripe and with low yields (20hl / Ha), the estate's sometimes botrytised grapes produce white wines of a surprisingly sustained color and a very singular aromatic bouquet, on candied citrus fruits, flowers and minerality. ..

With its singular personality, Coulée de Serrant can often surprise but undeniably deserves its place in the world of the greatest white wines in France.
