RULLY 1ER CRU GRESIGNY DOMAINE DE VILLAINE 2016
We started renting our Rully 1er Cru Grésigny from the year 2011. Located in the south-west of the Rully appellation area, this parcel supports vines that are over 80 years old, benefiting from a very good rooting which reveals all the nuances of this riotin climate that is Grésigny.
"Grésigny" which, in Burgundian dialect means: "small rapid coast".
We were unable to produce wine in 2011 due to hail.
Our first vintage from this vine is 2012. Each vintage is surprised to see how much this old vine from Grésigny (80 years old) manages to express or reveal a terroir. This wine is full of finesse, concentration and complexity. The delicacy of the nose with notes of white flower, linden, but also very ripe, fleshy white fruits.
The mouth which is full, fresh and tense which makes her almost nervous.
It manages to express roundness, smoothness and freshness at the same time while ending on saline notes.
It is a sparkling wine close to the tasting of certain wines from Puligny-Montrachet. A nice wine to keep.
Our Domaine de Villaine is located in Bouzeron, the first village of the Côte Chalonnaise south of Beaune, located between the villages of Santenay in the Côte d'Or and Rully and Mercurey in the Côte Chalonnaise.
From the Middle Ages, the monks of Cluny dressed this sunny little valley with vines, which enjoys an exceptional terroir. For centuries, wines with a strong personality have been produced there, especially from the Aligoté grape.
The vines are grown exclusively on hillsides, between 270 and 350 meters above sea level. The lean soils with a high limestone content of these hillsides ensure good yield control and the hot microclimate favors the ripening of the grapes. The very small surface area of the appellation makes AOC Bouzeron one of the "secrets" of Burgundy.
To make great wines, it is essential to vinify healthy grapes with high maturity. To achieve this, since 1986 we have chosen organic farming methods certified in 1997 by Qualité France ("Le Guillaumet" 92049 Paris La Défense Cedex). Pesticides and herbicides are excluded in order to respect natural balances. Manure is limited to organic vegetable compost.
