Domaine du JONC BLANC - Racine 2018
Le Jonc Blanc is located in the village of Vélines, in Dordogne. It has been owned by Isabelle Carles and her husband, Franck Pascal since 1999, when they decide to leave Paris to become winegrowers and winemakers. They cultivate 17 hectares of vines in certified biodynamic agriculture since 2009. The soil is mainly composed of limestone; white limestone from Castillon and yellow limestone from Astéries with a small band of marls from Ostréa between the two limestones terroirs. When making wines, minimal intervention is put in place; no inputs, indigenous yeasts, little or no sulfur, no fining, no filtration.
Racine 2018 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), Merlot (28%) and Malbec (18%). Malolactic fermentation and maturing are carried out in barrels, on total lees without any pumping to preserve the fruit. The ageing lasts from 12 to 18 months in barrels.
Grape varieties: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 18% Malbec
