CHANTAL COMTE - La Tour de l'Or 2010 - Maison La Mauny - Grande Réserve XO - 62.02%
Born in a family living in the West Indies since 1964, Chantal Comte was passionate about rum, to which she was initiated by two great specialists, André Depaz and Paul Hayot. Owner of the Domaine du Château de la Tuilerie in Nîmes, of which she was the winegrower, she now devotes herself completely to her profession as a selector of exceptional rums which she has been practicing since 1983. It is André Depaz, owner of the Plantation de la Montagne Pelée, which pushed her to create a profession that did not exist in rum at the time and which is common in the world of whisky : “blender and bottler”. Today, Chantal Comte selects and distributes the finest reserves of Rums from the Antilles. Her cuvées, cask strength, blend or vintage, embody the "quintessence of aromas of great rums" in the words of Alain Ducasse, a unique signature in the world of premium spirits.
La Tour de l'Or is an old XO “Grande Réserve” rum, selected and bottled by Chantal Comte in the cellars of Maison La Mauny. This cuvée from Loge 11 was harvested and distilled in 2010 and aged in September 2011 in American oak barrels that contained Bourbon. The rum is aged for 9 years and was bottled on May 5, 2021. 1,800 bottles were produced.
