Version Française - Eddu 2011 - 48%
Version Française is a La Maison du Whisky négoce range, made up of French spirits. The aim is to favour short circuits and encourage local consumption.
Created in 1986 by Guy Le Lay, the Distillerie des Menhirs produces above all lambig, cider, apple juice as well as the first pommeau in Brittany. In 1999, it embarked on the production of whisky and then opted for the use of buckwheat wheat whose malting is particularly complex and the yield significantly lower than barley (1.3 kg for a bottle against 0,8 kg for a barley whisky). This choice is motivated by the desire to make a whisky in tune with the terroir and Breton culture. He will give birth to Eddu (which means buckwheat in Breton), the first buckwheat whisky in the world. For distillation and aging, the Le Lay family equips themselves with a pair of Cognac stills, mainly using ex-cognac barrels and practicing slow reduction. This Single Malt distilled in 2011 comes from a Single Cask which produced 498 bottles.
