PLANTATION - Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy Smoky Formula - Edition 2021 - 40 %
The history of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand in Cognac. He surrounds himself with a team of enthusiasts and travels around the world to establish a distribution network sharing the same values and the same vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, he set off for the Caribbean with the idea of reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to other producers, notably rum producers. In search of the best rums in the Caribbean, he created Plantation, a range of terroir rums. Today, the House is focused on three great spirits: Cognac Ferrand from Grande Champagne, French Gin Citadelle and Rum from Terroirs Plantation. Plantation also owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond).
The 1824 English Journal of Patent and Inventions and the 1844 Journal of Agricultural Society were the main sources of inspiration to create this Pineapple rum. Ripe Golden Pineapple’s chunks are infused in aged Plantation original dark rum for 3 months. Meanwhile, the bare rind of the fruit, where the pineapple’s essential oil resides, is also macerated in the rum. It is then distilled in Barbados. The rum was aged in 200-litres oak barrels that previously held peated Single Malt Irish whiskey from Teeling Distillery.
