Deutz - Blanc de Blancs - Box 2017
The Deutz Champagne House is located in Aÿ, in the Marne Valley in Champagne . It was founded in 1838 by wine merchants William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. In 1983, after generations of ownership by the Deutz and Geldermann families, the company was sold to the Rouzaud family, owners of Louis Roederer . Nearly 80% of the fruit comes from Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites. Most of the Deutz vineyards are in the Aÿ region, with additional parcels in the Côte des Blancs. The house also uses grapes from growers under contract. In the cellar, the still base wines are vinified in stainless steel vats. After the second fermentation, the bottles are aged in underground cellars.
The Blanc de Blancs 2017 is a blend of plots of Chardonnay from Grands Crus classified terroirs: Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant and Chouilly in the Côte des Blancs, and other plots of the Montagne de Reims and Vallée of the Marne.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
